‘Sh-t White Girls Say… To Black Girls’ Continues The Tradition Of Eerily-Accurate Videos Making Fun Of Girls

The most fascinating thing about the phenomenon of “Shit Girl Say” and its follow-ups is that each video keeps building on the last one. Case in point: “Shit Girls Say” led to “Shit Black Girls Say,” which got uncomfortably specific (and maybe a little racist), so in came vlogger Franchesca Leigh with “Shit White Girls Say… to Black Girls.” It’s also hyper-focused, but it’s incredibly funny because it pokes fun at black girls and white girls without it feeling like Franchesa has some sort of agenda beyond being funny.

There are so many great bits, but I think my two favorites are “My best friend was black… I mean, she’s still black. We’re not really friends anymore” and “Hey, do you know a Tyrone Jenkins? He just requested me… I dunno, he’s black.” It’s something about the obnoxious platinum-blond wig and Franchesca’s smirking delivery that makes each line part truth, part zinger.

If you check out her YouTube, you’ll see that Franchesca, a graphic designer in New York City, has also spoofed Beyonce, Rihanna, and Nicki Minaj. I can’t wait to see more from her, especially if someone decides to challenge “Shit White Girls Say… to Black Girls” with their own response video.

Video: Cute Little Grandma Reads Snooki’s Tweets

I don’t really know much about the people who made this video other than the fact that they call themselves Booya Pictures, but really, there’s not a whole lot you need to know about this video to enjoy it. It’s a grandma reading some choice Tweets from Snooki. And it is quite possibly the GREATEST THING EVER.

The grandma in question sounds like she might be European, which just makes it even more adorable. Furthermore, Snooki isn’t the only Twitter user to have gotten the grandma treatment; she’s done it before to the likes of Tyler the Creator. Who else thinks ever celebrity/personality/famewhore/whatever should have their Tweets read by this cute little grandma? Because I sure do!

I don’t watch Real Housewives. I don’t watch any of them. But you know what I WOULD watch? The Real Housewives of South Boston. Because this video right here is HILARIOUS.

I’m from Boston (which really means that I’m from somewhere just outside of Boston), and like all Bostonians, the Boston stereotype makes me laugh my head off. Why? I don’t really know. Half the time, I’m convinced that it’s because the stereotype doesn’t really exist, and the other half of the time, I’m convinced it’s because it really, really does. Either way, though, this Real Housewives parody is pitch-perfect, from the overblown accents to the rabid adoration of someone allegedly related to Marky Mark– sorry, Mark Wahlburg. Sometimes I forget that he’s gone legit these days.

You want more? Well, how does a Red Sox jersey cleverly transformed into a dress via the careful application of a large belt sound? Or a story about taking a homer hit by Manny Ramirez to the uterus? Or the fact that even in moments of extreme drama, everyone unites over their hatred of the Yankees? Sound hilarious? Good. Because it is.

Aw, hell, just watch it yourselves, then tell me whether or not you’d watch this. My guess would be that you would. But maybe that’s just me.

Video: Sour Patch Kids Attack Method Man

Sour Patch Kids are devious. They’ll cut the strings on your yoyo. They’ll unfold your origami. They’re real menaces to society, those Sour Patch Kids. Or at least, they’re menaces to Method Man’s society, because this is apparently what happens to him whenever anyone spills a bag of them near him:

This… confuses me. Is it just a three-and-a-half-minute-long Sour Patch kids commercial? Or is Method Man unusually interested in the exploits of little men made out of gelatin? Or (even better), is it a trailer for a video game starring a bag of Sour Patch Kids? This last option seems to be the most likely, given the plug about them head to a console near you. To which I ask: Who the hell came up with the idea to have a video game based around Sour Patch Kids? Stranger things have happened, I suppose; does anyone remember that Sega game starring the 7-Up Spot? Though to be honest, this is what I REALLY want to know: Who decided that Method Man would be the best celebrity to shill for this very strange-looking game? Alas, we may never learn the truth.

Damn. Now I really want some Sour Patch Kids.

Video: Who Would Win In A Fight, Elijah Wood or Dominic Monaghan?

Last week, this video appeared on the Interwebs. In it, Elijah Wood challenges fellow Hobbit Dominic Monaghan to a fight. It’s… perplexing. Here, take a look for yourselves:

Honestly, I saw this and… wasn’t quite sure what to do with it. What is going on here? Why does Elijah want to fight Dominic? They seemed to get along all right while they were filming The Lord of the Rings. So what the hell happened? It falls under the heading “What is this I don’t even.” Amirite? Elijah looks to be either drunk or stoned; but then again, maybe he’s not. Maybe this is just his natural state. Maybe he’s done an excellent job fooling all of us into thinking he’s simply a nice young man with impossibly blue eyes for all these years. I don’t know.

But then this happened, and it all started to make sense:

Okay, I lied. It doesn’t make any more sense than it did. All I know is that it features Elijah and Dominic debating the finer points of World of Warcraft versus The Legend of Zelda, followed by the two of them flailing around at each other with boxing gloves. I’m still baffled, but Dominic ends up being the clear winner, so I guess that’s okay, then.

From what I gather, this is all part of some publicity stunt for a documentary about Irish bare-knuckle boxing called Knuckle. Cool? I guess? I don’t know. i’m still confused. What do you guys think?

Christina Hendricks Is Tired Of Being Asked If She’s Tired Of Being Asked About Her Boobs

TMZ posted an item today that’s more amusing for its defensive tone than anything a celebrity said or did. You see, the good people at TMZ were just doing their job, staking out the restaurant where Christina Hendricks was having dinner/drinks with friends, when she emerged wearing a modest black jacket. “Christina, I have a question,” the paparazzo began, prompting her to look over and listen to what it was. “Do you ever get tired of people talking about the twins?” At which point she visibly smiled a little before turning around and going back to saying goodbye to the people she’d been hanging out with.

This seems like a fairly reasonable reaction to me; who’d want to interrupt friend time to answer a question they’d been asked a million times before? We know she’s not just being a snobby celebrity, because the camera actually catches her posing for a picture with a fan before the TMZ guy makes his move. But this question annoyed her, so without being nasty about it, she declined to give them a sound bite of any kind. This made TMZ indignant:

One day after she wore a top that shoved her boobs into her chin … “Mad Men” actress Christina Hendricks SHUT US DOWN when we asked a TOTALLY FAIR question about ‘em.

Hendricks was out in L.A. Tuesday night when we asked if she ever gets tired about people talking about her gals … when she refused to answer and walked away from our camera.

Of course, Christina hasn’t always been so shy about her chest … and if you’re not a blind person, you can see the proof below.

So basically, their reasoning goes, if an actress with boobs wears a low-cut dress on the red carpet, she must entertain infinite “TOTALLY FAIR” questions about “‘em” or she’s a hypocritical bitch. How many questions can you even ask about boobs? (A lot, apparently.) And who refers to boobs as “the twins”? Does every skinny actress have to answer a million questions about her skinniness?? All in all, I think she handled this little interaction pretty well. We see her being nice to a fan, being nice to her friends, and even being pretty nice about declining to answer TMZ’s dumb question. Joan Harris 1, paparazzi 0.

Video: Amy Winehouse’s Last Single, ‘Body and Soul,’ Is A Duet With Tony Bennett

Amy Winehouse‘s last recording, a duet version of Tony Bennett‘s Body and Soul, was released today on what would have been her 28th birthday. In the video, she appears healthy and clearheaded, a far cry from her disastrous last performances. And as always, that voice is just amazing.

Wearing a sweater from her own line with Fred Perry, Amy flirts adorably with Bennett throughout the video, as one does when singing a duet with Tony Bennett. At one point, she kisses her necklace and points up to the ceiling…what’s she looking at? Is it a shout out to God, or someone in an engineering booth? It’s not clear. But when she hugs Tony Bennett at the end, your heart will melt, or at least it should, if you have one.

Not coincidentally, Amy’s posthumous charity, The Amy Winehouse Foundation UK, also launched today, and its first major proceeds will come from sales of the single. According to MTV News, the mission statement of the organization is to “support charities and organisations undertaking charitable activities in both the United Kingdom and abroad who help, support, or care for young people — especially but not exclusively those who are in need by reason of ill health, disability, ﬁnancial disadvantage or addiction.” Once you’ve wiped the tears from your eyes, you can go here to donate, if you feel so inclined.

Video: Aaliyah’s Songs Get the Literal Treatment

I’ll confess that I’ve never really listened to Aaliyah much; of course her death at a young age was horribly, horribly tragic, but I was just never really much of an R&B person. I’m not now, and I certainly wasn’t when I was deep in the middle of my awkward high school years. But maybe– MAYBE– I would have listened to Aaliyah more if I had known that her lyrical content was this interesting. Cupids? Cupids SHOPPING? Arbys?! I don’t know what these things have in common, but apparently Aaliyah did. Only she can reveal these mysteries to you, for they are vast. Listen close, young grasshopper. You have much to learn.

There is one thing I remember vividly from the early days of X-Men movies. It was a sound byte from John Stamos, who was at the time married to Rebecca Romijn, and it was with regard to Rebecca’s crazy blue Mystique makeup. I’m paraphrasing a bit here– it’s been years since I read that article and I’m not even entirely sure where I found it anymore– but the quote went a little something like this: “You have NO IDEA the places where I keep finding blue makeup on her after she comes home from work.” That quote alone was enough to make me never want to play a character in any kind of film, television, or theatrical pursuit that required heavy makeup or prosthetics EVER IN MY LIFE. Funny, then, that ten years later, another sound byte involving a totally different actress, but still involving the same character would drive that point home as if it had never been made before. Want to see what Jennifer Lawrence had to go through in the makeup chair in order to become Mystique in this summer’s X-Men: First Class? Check this out:

In a lot of ways, this is actually pretty neat: They modeled Jennifer’s Mystique look as closely as they could after Rebecca’s, so it’s nice to know that even though they didn’t have the same makeup team from the 2000 X-Men movie, they still made a huge effort to keep the continuity intact. But you know what you have to do when you’re redesigning makeup like Mystique’s? You have to test it. You always have to test makeup effects, but when you’re trying to match something someone else did ten years ago, you REALLY have to test it. You need to find exactly the right shade of blue. Oh, and also? It took seven hours to apply the makeup each time. SEVEN. HOURS. EACH. TIME.

At least Jennifer had a positive outlook on the proceedings: “It’s like a sleepover,” she said about the long hours of makeup hell. “Except I’m naked and being painted.” Right. EXACTLY like a sleepover.
