Gryffindors are brave; Slytherins are ambitious; Ravenclaws are smart; and Hufflepuffs are… Wait, does anyone actually know what Hufflepuffs are? Is Hufflepuff just some sort of repository House for the kids Hogwarts doesn’t know quite what to do with? The questions need answering! The public has a right to know!

Author Neil Gaiman recently appeared on the Minnesota Public Radio show Wits, during which he recounted a memory of Mythbuster Adam Savage singing “I Will Survive” in the voice of Gollum. So what’s a radio show host to do? Why, call up Adam Savage and ask for an encore, of course! Much hilarity ensues. Laugh heartily, my friends.

Ever since Inception came out, it’s been a trend to Inception-ize the most common, everyday things: Cats, My Little Ponies… and now wedding receptions. The Mary Sue recommends that you watch this video at least until the 1:30 mark. They are absolutely correct. And before you ask, yes, this IS from someones ACTUAL WEDDING RECEPTION. Furthermore, they did, in fact, arrive by helicopter. Just make sure to keep an eye on that spinning top.

Guess what? It’s Tony Awards Night, so break out the song-and-dance! Crushable Associate Editor Natalie Zutter and I will be covering the event for you all tonight; the telecast airs on CBS at 8pm. In the meantime, though, let’s start getting psyched up for it, shall we? Earlier this week, host Neil Patrick Harris gave CBS Early Show co-anchor Chris Wragge a backstage preview of the show, and guess what again? You can watch it on video here! I’m not entirely sure why Wragge seems so obsessed with the fact that this year’s venue, the Beacon Theatre, is a more “intimate” space than the show’s usual venue of Radio City Music Hall (count how many times he says it. I dare you. I DOUBLE dare you), but if this video is anything to go by, there’s going to be some fun stuff to look forward to this year. Now’s your time to get a sneak peek at a few moments in rehearsal, including a bit from the all-star production of Company (featuring NPH, Stephen Colbert, Jon Cryer, Christina Hendricks… the list goes on), a tidbit from Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, and a quick look at Best Musical and Best Revival of a Musical nominees Catch Me If You Can, Sister Act, How to Succeed, and The Book of Mormon. While we’re on the subjects of both zombies and musicals: Has it ever occurred to you that maybe the undead deserve a musical of their very own? If it hasn’t, it should; but in any event, it occurred to SOMEBODY, and the result of that piece of epic wondering is this: Rigamortis: A Zombie Love Story. And it’s AWESOME. More »
Although Star Tours: The Adventure Continues opened in Disney World on May 20, Californians had to wait an additional two weeks before enjoying its Disneyland counterpart. But today, on this day of days, Disneyland’s spiffed-up Star Tours opened to much fanfare, and who else should be the one to knock down the “Opening Soon” sign but the mighty Sith Lord himself? He does, however, take a spin on the Teacups first. Classic. More »
In last weekend’s drinking game, we walked you through the old version of the classic Disney ride Star Tours in honor of the opening of the new-and-improved Star Tours: The Adventure Continues. This weekend, we can give you a peek at what the new ride actually looks like with a snazzy ride-through video! More »
There are many reasons to love George Takei. He was Sulu on Star Trek: The Original Series. He was Hiro’s dad on Heroes. He took anti-gay Arkansas school board member Clint McCance to task for being a douchebag. He submitted the best audition ever for Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. And now, he’s speaking out against the Tennessee “Don’t Say Gay” law. His solution to the so-called problem? Well, fine; if you don’t want to say “gay,” substitute “Takei” instead! I don’t know about you, but I love the idea of a Takei Pride Parade. It’s okay to be Takei! More »
Libba Bray is the author of The Gemma Doyle Trilogy, the Printz award winning Going Bovine, and the forthcoming Beauty Queens (out May 24th). This past week I had the opportunity to talk to her about everything from the first time she read The Catcher in the Rye to making a living as a playwright in this two part interview (complete with dramatic hand gestures). In a New Yorker article this month, Anna Faris promised America a scandalously raunchy movie. Definitely not Katherine Heigl territory, the protagonist of What’s Your Number (out September 30th) has had twenty lovers. Twenty! Scandalous, right? More »
Tonight, MTV is airing a special called 10 Most Outrageous Sex Myths. The special features celebrities and MTV stars talking about and debunking sex myths like “You can’t get pregnant if a guy pulls out.” Since the special hasn’t aired yet, the jury is out on whether it’ll be a surprisingly-well-done episode like the Markai Durham abortion special or something horrible and ham-fisted like the Teen Mom 2 reunion. This season on Dancing with the Stars, every single week has been a theme week. I’m okay with occasional theme weeks on the show if they push people outside of their comfort zones – classical week was great because people couldn’t rely on the lyrics to help them keep their timing, and it ended up upping everyone’s game – but when you have one every single week it just starts to look gimmicky. But Dancing with the Stars is nothing if not gimmicky, so here we go. More »
Oscar Wilde once said, “Whatever harsh criticism may be passed on the construction of their sentences, they at least possess that one touch of vulgarity that makes the whole world kin.” Or, the cast of Jersey Shore may be insufferable human beings, but boy, aren’t they fun to watch! You know what makes them even MORE fun to watch? Their direct quotes being delivered by the cast of the current Broadway revival of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, of course. More »

It’s not clear if the moderators actually put in the wrong track — Michael Jackson‘s “Black or White” has the same opening guitar riff as Foreigner‘s “Hot Blooded” — or if he got started too late and was trying to cover up. Either way, this video of a college karaoke competition makes us want to give him a hug. More »
