Questionable Choices: Katy Perry’s Giant Flower Hat

Katy Perry is known for her unique fashion choices. Cotton-candy pink hair. Bra-tops that looks like desserts. But her headwear for last night’s MusiCares Person Of The Year Gala just seemed off.

Normally Katy’s out there fashion statements are made in loud, bright colors that make her look like a one of the girls on a Lisa Frank folder. But last night her hat and dress were in muted pastels; even her make-up was polished and conservative. Maybe it’s because of that the hat just looks like a crepe-paper monstrosity a kid might make for a spring-themed art class: Katy had a chance to pull off a really classy look if she just left the flower in it’s giant hat box.

Perhaps the simple dress and make-up paired with the over sized hat was a way for her to try to find balance, like when you keep the rest of your face natural when you wear bold eye make-up. Next time she should go with a headband and enjoy everyone fawning over how gorgeous she looks instead of scratching their heads and wondering if she was on her way to a royal wedding themed after-party.

All of the teens featured on 16 and Pregnant have a lot of obstacles in their lives, but Whitney Purvis from season one is beginning to make the other girls’ lives look easy.

Fans of the show might remember Whitney as the teen who was expecting a child and a sibling on the show; her mom was pregnant too, just little Father of the Bride II (only more biologically plausible and not nearly as funny). After the cameras went off Whitney’s problems grew when her mom was arrested for drug possession.

Now Whitney has to deal with some Facebook drama, which might seem mundane after all the other issues she’s had to deal with. Weston Gosa, Whitney’s ex and father of her son Weston Jr. posted a naked picture of Whitney on Facebook. She sent him the snapshot while they were still a couple. He took it down soon after he posted it. The couple have been split for a few months now, and this moment of Facebook wrath could be coming out of jealousy of Whitney’s new boyfriend.

Poor Whitney is becoming a one stop cautionary tale teaching teens they shouldn’t have unprotected sex or give naked photos of themselves to anyone. Hopefully after this debacle poor Whitney’s fortune will change.

Forget a six-figure magazine cover and forget a big dramatic reveal, because Blue Ivy’s first baby photos just made their debut via Jay-Z’s website, Life and Times. For such a controversial and heavily promoted pregnancy, this understated announcement on a Friday night seems shockingly laid back.

I just always assumed Beyonce would unzip her dress on the Grammy’s red carpet and reveal that Blue Ivy was built into her dress. Or Jay-Z would present her Lion King style when he was supposed to be introducing some other nominee. Never in a million years did I think they would go the online route.

Making announcements via your website is what regular people do. Everyday people who go to their cubicle jobs everyday and eat at Olive Garden and name their children Sarah or Josh. It’s not for music royalty like Beyonce and Jay-Z. Or so I thought. Maybe they’re setting Blue Ivy up to have a normal life, free of paparazzi and publicity.

Then again they named her Blue Ivy and trademarked her name after she was born so they could potentially make money off of her. So maybe not.

Whitney Port Is Dating One Of The Producers From Her Reality Show The City

Whitney Port certainly likes to keep her relationships in the reality-TV sphere: In 2009 she brought then-boyfriend Jay Lyon on her The Hills spinoff The City; last summer she broke up with The Buried Life star Ben Nemtin; and now Us Weekly reports that Whitney’s dating Tim Rosenman, one of the producers on The City.

According to IMDb, Rosenman worked on only one episode of The City as a field producer, a source says that he and Whitney “kept in touch and have always had crushes on each other. Now they are full-blown together.” You’d think so, after they vacationed together in Miami in late January.

They both have friends in New York and L.A. and run in the same fashion and celebrity circles. Not to mention, they both worked on a fake reality show. In fact, we’ve seen this story before: The 2004 ABC Family TV movie I Want to Marry Ryan Banks, where Emma Caulfield is the fan favorite on a Bachelor-style reality show… but she’s fallen for the bachelor’s agent, played by Bradley Cooper.

In the meantime, we’ll be curious to see how much their reality history colors Whitney and Tim’s relationship, or if they can operate independently of how they met. They’ve done a pretty good job already of being secretive; maybe there’s hope.

Some nights are all about slipping into high heels, slathering on the mascara and flirting with cute boys until one of them finally buys you a drink. You spend the night dancing, waiting in bathroom lines, talking to guys, explaining to your friend why confronting your other friend about not coming to her birthday party is not the best idea in a crowded bar and posing for potential new Facebook photos.

Then other nights are the perfect night for a girl date. Those awesome nights when you call up your closest gal pals after a long week at work, slip into a clean pair of pajama jeans and spend the night alternating between complaining, reminiscing and downing a bottle of wine. Maybe you watch stupid rom-coms all night or maybe you just play Adele on repeat and cry. You never know where a girl date can lead.

House And 7 Other TV Shows That Got To End The Way They Wanted To

Two days ago, it was revealed that House, M.D. would be bowing this May after eight seasons. Creator David Shore pushed Fox to stop waffling over the show’s fate because he wanted ample time and warning to end the series the way he envisioned. Because often networks will pull the plug on moderately successful shows with little warning, leaving creators unable to wrap things up and viewers left out in the cold.

House is one of the lucky ones: With any luck, the series finale will provide some closure. We’ve found seven others, because for every Jack & Bobby cut down before its time, you have a Dollhouse (which put its big reveal on a fast track) or Arrested Development (which actually gets a second chance).

To clarify: I’m never going to know how these shows’ creators felt. Maybe they wanted to go on for several more seasons; doubtless they still had unexplored ideas they were sad to shelve. But these are the series that got the chance to tell a more complete story than if they had been cut down mid-breath.

Anderson Cooper To Ask Hard-Hitting Questions About MTV’s ‘Teen Mom’

Since his daytime show, Anderson, first aired Anderson Cooper has not only been tackling his fear of certain food (like shrimp!), giggling while tripping over a coffee table, but he’s also been taking on the reality TV show world.

Just a few weeks ago Cooper went head to head with some of the pageant moms on Toddlers and Tiaras, and now he’s going to get to the bottom of MTV’s Teen Mom series. On Monday February 13th, Cooper will be sitting down with Farrah, Chelsea and Kailyn from the show in an interview that will cover a myriad of topics. But most importantly, he’ll be asking the girls if they feel the show “glamorizes” teenage pregnancy instead of pointing out the actual facts and responsibilities that come with the turf.

Cooper also delves into the fact that these girls have been on the cover of magazines and are actually profiting off of their situation. Although the responses are varied, Farrah adamantly stated: “I didn’t get pregnant to be famous, so, that’s all I have to say.” Are you sure, Farrah?

The best clip is the one where Kailyn blames her mother for not teaching her about sex education, saying:

“I never had a close relationship with my mom. I don’t even have a relationship with her at all now, so I feel that maybe if someone I was close with had a talk with me about sex it would be different.”

While we’d love to show you some clips, you’ll just have to wait and see it all unravel this Monday, February 13th. There’s guaranteed to be drama, passing of blame, accusations and maybe some tears.

You know that crazy friend you have who does the most ridiculous things and makes the most inane comments, yet still manages to have a really successful career? And you’re always like how? How do you operate a meth lab every night and make it to work on time every day? That’s Die Antwoord, a South African couple who have built up a reputation for being a raunchy rap duo with absolutely no boundaries when it comes to their lyrics…or their interviews. Their names alone should make you fall in love with them: Ninja and Yo-Landi Vi$$er (a revised version of her birth name, Yolanda Visser).

Seriously, they did an interview with The Daily Beast about their career thus far that’s absolutely amazing. It covers everything from how their song went viral on Youtube, how they signed with Interscope records, why they left Interscope records and even how Yo-Landi was courted by Ari Emmanuel for a role in The Girl With a Dragon Tattoo.

While it’s 100% worth it for you to read the whole article, I’d just like to share my favorite quote from Ninja on becoming a fashion muse for Alexander Wang’s spring 2012 campaign:

“He gave us all these white T-shirts and asked us to paint all over them,” explains Ninja. “Alex took us partying to this club, and it was the best night of my life. I nearly got three or four girls pregnant on the dancefloor. Then, I needed to pee but the queue for the toilet was real long, so I peed in this wine glass and put it on the table.”

Like, what!?

I followed the first sentence about getting to paint the white t-shirts and I followed the fact that “Alex” took them to a club. But he lost me at the part where he nearly impregnanted three OR four women on the dance floor. So I’m not sure how we got from the implanation ceremony on the dance floor to him peeing in a wine glass. And you know what, I bet this is a typical night for him.

“Oh the line for the bathroom is too long, if you’re done with your wine pass me the glass? Oh you’re not done? Pass it anyways, I really have to piss.”

And that’s why I love Ninja and Yo-Landi Vi$$er. They’re that superfun couple who you go out with once a year, have the time of your life and wake and say “did Ninja try to get me pregnant on the dance floor again?”

Happy almost Valentine’s Day! If you haven’t decided yet what you’re going to give the love in your life, you might want to get a moving on that because time is running out. Snap to it!

Just like everyone else, celebrities are big into Valentine’s Day, too. Obviously, we need one day a year to exhibit how much we love someone, because if we didn’t have it, then we’d never tell them, right?

Although the day after the fact we’ll probably hear all about the over-the-top gifts that celebrity couples gave each other this year, it’s always fun to beat them to the punch and do the gift selecting for them. There’s nothing better than playing pretend no matter what your age.
